Posthumous arose in Johannesburg, South Africa in 2009 when Callysta van Niekerk and Estiaan Petzer decided to join their musical ideas and vision by forming a band. The goal was to write and record melodic death metal songs with a modern and fresh sound. After several lineup changes in their early days, the band re-emerged as an instrumental quartet and is best known on the local metal scene for their heavy, hard hitting riffs, offbeats and melodies that fuse melodic metal with progressive elements.
